It’s a new dawn at San Siro as Cristian Chivu got his managerial tenure off to a flying start.

Indeed, Inter hammered Torino 5-0 in their first Serie A match since the departure of Simone Inzaghi.

Meanwhile, the Italian manager guided the club to two Champions League finals in three years.

However, he fell short on each occasion, including a humiliating 5-0 defeat to Paris Saint-Germain last season.

Furthermore, Inzaghi’s secret agreement with Al-Hilal before the Munich final tainted his image among the Nerazzurri fans.

Despite the 49-year-old’s exit, Inter seem capable of making another standout result at Europe’s top table.

Capello believes another appearance in the title-deciding fixture is a realistic possibility for the Serie A giants.

“Inter will need to channel the anger and disappointment from the Munich finale into positive energy for another attempt,” he said.

“Their blazing start in Serie A gives reason for optimism. The Nerazzurri lack nothing to go all the way this time.

“They have the structure, mentality, and players. By players, I also mean the newcomers, who are finally on par with the established starters.

“I’m thinking of Sucic, who already commanded San Siro in his debut as a starter, but also Bonny, who scored immediately, and Pio Esposito.

“Chivu’s arrival on the bench has already had an impact: there’s a fresh vibe at Inter, and it shows on the pitch.

“I see all the players, including the senior figures, ready to challenge themselves again and willing to follow the new coach’s principles.

“Last season’s experience will be valuable.

“The shock of losing the final to PSG in that manner cannot erase the remarkable journey that came before.

“Today, Inter is a team aware it can fight to win the Cup, knows exactly how to operate, and will repeat a campaign as protagonists.

“That’s thanks in part to the work of their coach.”
