Lennart Karl continues to cause a furore at FC Bayern. After his strong performances, more and more people want to see the youngster at the World Cup.

The record champions remain on the road to success: in their 3-0 win in Mönchengladbach, the Munich side played with confidence and extended their impressive run. Joshua Kimmich put FCB ahead with a long-range shot, followed shortly afterwards by Raphael Guerreiro. The 17-year-old Karl then scored the final goal again – with a spectacular strike from around 21 metres that brought back memories of his Champions League goal against Brugge.

After the game, Kimmich spoke about Karl’s development – and did not want to rule out the possibility of the talented youngster playing in the World Cup. „Lenny is brave and self-confident – that definitely helps him. He’s at the start of his career. I hope he really enjoys this moment and this year – with little expectation and pressure,“ said Kimmich after the 3-0 win.

However, the Bayern professional also made it clear what is important now: „The most important thing for him now is that he consistently delivers his performances on the pitch. I joined the national team after my first season at FC Bayern. Back then, it was still unusual for someone to make their international debut after four or five Bundesliga games.“

Kimmich added: „Nowadays, you get the feeling that things can happen a bit faster. Of course, at a World Cup or during the course of the year as national team coach, you always have the chance to bring in players who are in good form. In any case, Lenny is on a very good path and we will continue to support him.“

Hype surrounding the Bayern talent continues to grow

A real hype had already developed after his dream goal in the premier class. Sky reporter Florian Plettenberg demanded on social media: „My opinion: Lennart Karl must go to the World Cup! What do you say?“ He added: „Provided he gets more appearances. Keeps that cheekiness. Dribbles. Scores. Serves. Demands. The greatest talent I’ve seen at FC Bayern since Jamal Musiala.“

Karl himself also remains modest. After his historic Champions League goal, he said: „I’m very happy about the goal, about my performance. I’m the type of player who isn’t afraid and takes his shots. It’s just fun with the team.“ He continued: „Now I’ve scored my first goal, a lot of people are looking at me. But I don’t feel any pressure. I have to build on that, just keep going.“
