Leonardo Jardim includes Johnny as left-back cover for Flamengo v Coritiba

Johnny has been named in Flamengo’s squad for Saturday’s Brasileirão match against Coritiba at the Maracanã, kick-off 16:00 Brasília time. According to Coluna Do Fla, head coach Leonardo Jardim is finalising his options, with the under-20 full-back included while Alex Sandro trains with Brazil.

Johnny steps into the slot previously occupied by Alex Sandro. He was also called up for the trip to Grêmio, when the number 26 was suspended, and took a place on the bench.

The youngster has worked with the senior group this week as preparations focus on Coritiba. His inclusion covers the left side in Alex Sandro’s absence with the national team.

Even so, the expectation is that Ayrton Lucas will start at left-back. The number 6 is Alex Sandro’s immediate deputy at Flamengo.

SporTV and Premiere will broadcast the match in Brazil.
