Liam Cooper has welcomed Leeds United teenager Harry Gray after the teenager sealed a season-long loan to Sheffield Wednesday.
The 17-year-old's move was confirmed on Tuesday, returning to League One as the Owls start a new era under new ownership. Leeds said in a statement that they would monitor his progress very closely.
Gray scored three goals in 20 League One appearances during a six-month stint at Rotherham United last season, amid a relegation fight. He and Leeds will hope a step-up to a promotion hopeful brings more opportunity to improve that senior tally.
Cooper, 34, initially joined Wednesday on a short-term deal in November last year and signed a new one-year contract in June to lend experience during a squad overhaul. He greeted Gray on Instagram with the three-word message, 'Here he is'.
Gray has already linked up for pre-season, with Wednesday's 2026/27 schedule beginning a week and a half before Leeds in the Premier League. They open with a Carabao Cup tie against Bolton Wanderers, who replaced them in the Championship, on the eighth of August. Club channels have shown early fitness work that appeared to include the bleep test, after which the Leeds loanee dropped to the floor for a breather.
