Liverpool are receiving a caution on what they should expect when facing Paris Saint-Germain in the UEFA Champions League Round of 16.
The last time these two clubs clashed was in 2018, and there are players left over from the Reds’ squad that faced PSG twice in the group stage, like Mohamed Salah, Andy Robertson, and Virgil van Dijk.
Nonetheless, those players are about to see a different PSG than they were used to seeing, which was one that relied on their superstar players heavily, whether it was Lionel Messi, Neymar Jr., or Kylian Mbappe.

One key to PSG’s success is their disciplined play—they commit very few fouls, which means they rarely pick up cards. In an interview with L’Équipe, Lucien Favre praised their organization when winning back possession, saying it’s something a coach like him appreciates.
“PSG are perfectly organized in recovering the ball,” Favre said (h/t Le10Sport). “The Parisians are not there to chop down their opponents; they commit a few fouls, which is normal, but always in a very fair manner, in the spirit of the game. And that is magnificent to see.
“Paris are winning back the ball with the intention of playing with it, which doesn’t mean they run less—quite the opposite. And unlike previous seasons, everyone is involved in winning the ball back, which changes everything.”
PSG have found another gear in recent months when their backs were against the wall in the Champions League with wins over RB Salzburg, Manchester City, VfB Stuttgart, and Stade Brestois.
