In one of the most exciting transfers of the upcoming winter window, Liverpool appear poised to pull off a major coup by signing England international defender Marc Joy.
According to reliable sources, TEAMtalk reports that the Reds have received "very encouraging signs" regarding their chances of bringing Joy from Crystal Palace at the start of January. These developments suggest that Liverpool have overtaken all European rivals, including Barcelona, who have been closely monitoring the situation, to become the favorites to sign the 24-year-old defender.
Liverpool's position is strengthened by two crucial factors: the player's contract situation and his personal desire. With Joy's contract nearing its end in June 2026, he will be able to sign a pre-contract agreement with any club starting in the new year, an opportunity Liverpool intend to fully exploit. Crucially, the player himself is determined to join Anfield. Sources report that "Marc Joy remains extremely keen on a move to Liverpool," a remarkable commitment considering that this ambition has not diminished despite the club experiencing its worst run of form in a decade. Liverpool reportedly tried to sign Joe Hart last summer, but to no avail. Now, with manager Arne Slott needing to rebuild and stabilize his defense, the club's management seems determined not to miss the opportunity again.
While a move to Barcelona remains an option, current indications strongly suggest Liverpool are leading the race. The combination of the English club's sporting project, Hart's extensive Premier League experience, and the possibility of him playing a key role at the heart of the defense all point to a swift January transfer.
With a salary of around €3 million per year at Crystal Palace, Hart, whose market value is in the tens of millions, appears to be on the verge of joining Liverpool in a deal that is expected to have a decisive impact on the team's performance in the second half of the season.
