Liverpool fear Alexander Isak has sustained a broken leg ahead of the results of the striker’s scan.
Isak was injured after scoring in Liverpool’s 2-1 win at Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday evening.
As Tottenham defender Micky van de Ven attempted to block Isak’s effort on goal, the duo tangled, with Isak writhing in agony. The Swedish striker was immediately substituted with Arne Slot admitted it ‘did not look good’.
Liverpool face a nervous wait over the extent of the issue, and Sky Sports are reporting there is belief that Isak has suffered a fracture.
It continues a challenging start at Liverpool for the £125m British record recruit, who missed several games with a groin issue earlier in the campaign.
Discussing the injury on Saturday, Slot said: “We’ll have to wait and see.
“But if a player scores and then gets injured and doesn’t try to come back on the pitch, that’s usually not a good thing.”
