Liverpool have identifed Xabi Alonso as their priority replacement for Arne Slot as manager, according to a report from Romain Molina. With increasing scrutiny over the Dutchman’s position at Anfield, the Merseyside outfit already appear to have identified his replacement.

The Premier League club’s decision-makers have long been convinced of the former Real Madrid head coach’s managerial prowess. The former Spanish international midfielder was one of the leading contenders to replace Jürgen Klopp before they decided to appoint Slot as their head coach.

Alonso to replace Slot at Liverpool?

Molina understands that Slot is unlikely to be in charge of Liverpool next season. The former Feyenoord head coach has come under increasing pressure in recent weeks, and that has only been amplified by a 4-0 defeat against Manchester City in the FA Cup.
