Big changes are coming to Liverpool’s midfield this summer.
Arne Slot has been relying on the same cast of midfield characters for a couple of seasons now and is getting diminishing returns from some of them.
Alexis Mac Allister and Ryan Gravenberch have been beneath their 2024/25 Premier League title-winning best.
It’s no wonder that sporting director Richard Hughes has been linked with moves for new midfielders - with the likes of Eduardo Camavinga and Adam Wharton among those named as targets.
To facilitate new arrivals it is likely that some players are going to have to leave - with Wataru Endo and Curtis Jones both earmarked as candidates for the chop.
Endo is currently injured - aiming for a return to action ahead of the FIFA World Cup for Japan - while Jones heads into the off-season far from certain about where his future will lie.
The 25-year-old has been unable to nail down a place in Arne Slot’s lineup in his preferred midfield position - and last week appeared to endorse Mo Salah’s message against the head coach.
Accordingly the club may offload the Scouser - who is out of contract in 2027 - having already listened to offers in the winter.
Tottenham and Inter were among the teams to come forward with interest but Liverpool pulled the plug on the deal owing to a lack of cover. But Inter WILL be back for the £35m-rated maestro - with a report in Tutto Mercato Web suggesting talks have already taken place.
