Liverpool's latest injury blow only puts more pressure on Arne Slot to get things right. The Reds host PSV Eindhoven with a hand tied behind their back.
Liverpool will try to get back to winning ways on Wednesday evening. They’ve suffered back-to-back 3-0 defeats, the latter of which was a season low this weekend.
Nottingham Forest rocked up at Anfield in 19th place but controlled the game, largely from start to finish. Their 3-0 win highlighted all the problems at Liverpool right now.
But the UEFA Champions League brings about a chance to turn things around. The competition has largely been good to Liverpool this season - while it’s six defeats from seven in the Premier League, the Reds have won three of their four European ties.
Things won’t be simple, however, thanks to injuries. Liverpool didn’t have Jeremie Frimpong nor Conor Bradley against Forest and they’re missing again tonight.
That limits Liverpool at right-back and that’s not all.
Florian Wirtz missed the defeat against Forest with a muscle injury. It was expected he'd be back to face PSV, however.
Or at least, Arne Slot was hopeful.
"Florian should be able to play after [Forest], it depends on what happens after, but that shouldn’t be that long," he said ahead of the Forest game (per Liverpoolfc.com).
