Jeremie Frimpong was brought in to relieve Mohamed Salah on the right wing while Hugo Ekitike has been a revelation since signing from Eintracht Frankfurt. But the interest in forward didn’t stop there.
Antoine Semenyo of Bournemouth could well be described as one that got away - with Richard Hughes the sporting director known to be a big fan of the Ghana international.
Indeed Hughes signed Semenyo for the Cherries when he was technical director on the south coast - and was tipped to complete a second deal for the versatile forward last summer.
According to a new report in TEAMtalk, Semenyo is “admired” at Anfield - not least for his homegrown status which would assist in Champions League player registrations.
And the same report suggests several of the Premier League’s biggest teams - Liverpool included - could be back for Semenyo in 2026.
“Tottenham looked into a breakthrough on a couple of occasions, and Manchester United explored the situation around their push for more creativity,” the report reads.
“Liverpool admired his profile for their Champions League squad, while Newcastle pursued him along with a host of other considerations and Arsenal monitored him as part of their winger shortlist.”
