Arne Slot now looks set to remain with Liverpool beyond this summer.

Despite widespread speculation that the Dutchman would lose his job amid the team’s struggles recent reports claim that the 47-year-old will be kept on by the Premier League champions.

Last week a report emerged in the Telegraph that Slot was due to play a big part in identifying and recruiting this summer’s top transfer targets.

And it looks like the head coach will be granted his transfer wish at centre-back.

Liverpool pushing hard to sign Lacroix

Sports Boom is claiming that the Anfield club are “pushing hard” to sign France international Maxence Lacroix from Crystal Palace.

“Liverpool are set to push hard to sign Crystal Palace defender Maxence Lacroix this summer,” the report reads.

“Arne Slot is set to be backed in the transfer window once again this summer and has made Lacroix his top centre-back target despite interest from domestic and European rivals.”

Maxence Lacroix: Situation summary

Maxence Lacroix is a 26-year-old French centre-back who joined Crystal Palace from Wolfsburg in August 2024 for around £18m, reuniting with Oliver Glasner on a five-year deal through 2029.

A 1.90m defender who came through Sochaux before moving to Germany, he has quickly become a cornerstone of Palace’s back line and was part of the side that won the FA Cup in 2025.

On the pitch he is a front-foot, aggressive defender, combining recovery pace with strong aerial presence and proactive stepping into duels.

In the 2025-26 campaign he averages solid duel and aerial numbers, high volumes of clearances and recoveries, and an 86% passing accuracy, reflecting a defender comfortable defending space and building from deep.

His long passing and willingness to defend high suit Glasner’s more expansive, pressing-focused approach.

Lacroix’s contract runs to June 2029 and is understood to be worth about £50,000 per week.
