Liverpool Transfer Talk: Pennant Backs Bowen Move

Pennant Sees Smart Bowen Fit

Liverpool’s summer rebuild may yet turn towards Jarrod Bowen, with Jermaine Pennant offering a firm endorsement of the West Ham forward.

With Mohamed Salah leaving, Liverpool need proven attacking quality from the right. Bowen fits several obvious requirements. He is left footed, Premier League tested, hard working, direct and capable of scoring from wide areas.

Pennant told talkSPORT: “I think he could do a good job because he plays out there. That’s his position. He’s doing well. He does well. He’s a talisman for West Ham, a team that’s struggling. So I think that would be a good signing.

“I think Liverpool were linked with him a good four years ago as well. He’s quick, he’s aggressive, he’s direct, which we like. He can get past players, go either way, byline, cut inside.

“So for me, it would be a good addition to the squad.”

Bowen Offers Premier League Certainty

Bowen would not arrive as a replica of Salah. Few players in world football could carry that burden. Yet Liverpool may not need one signing to solve everything. They need a forward line with greater depth, greater durability and fewer unknowns.

That is where Bowen makes sense. He understands the league, he carries responsibility well and he has remained one of West Ham’s most reliable performers during a difficult campaign.

If West Ham are relegated, keeping Bowen would become extremely difficult. A player of his quality is unlikely to view the Championship as the right stage for the next phase of his career.

Liverpool Need Experience

Liverpool’s squad is changing quickly. Salah’s exit removes goals, authority and aura. Andy Robertson is also leaving, while Alisson Becker’s future is expected to move in the same direction. That is not merely a tactical issue, it is a dressing room issue too.

Bowen, now 29, would not fit the usual Liverpool transfer profile perfectly. Yet this may be a summer when experience matters. He would arrive ready to contribute, without needing a long adaptation period.

For supporters dreaming of a superstar winger, Bowen may feel underwhelming. For a recruitment department seeking reliable output, intensity and Premier League knowhow, Pennant’s view is easy to understand.

Liverpool will need more than one attacking addition. Bowen should not be seen as the whole answer, but he could be part of a sensible one.
