Arne Slot said on Friday that Liverpool will be without first-choice goalkeeper Alisson Becker for next Wednesday’s Champions League quarter-final first leg against PSG, and probably the return on the 14th at Anfield. According to L'Équipe, he delivered the update at his pre-match briefing.
Liverpool visit Manchester City in the FA Cup quarter-finals on Saturday at 13:45. Slot added that Mohamed Salah, Alexander Isak and Jeremie Frimpong will be available for the PSG ties, though only Salah could start on Saturday.
Alisson sustained a muscle problem in the 18 March last-16 second leg, a 4-0 win over Galatasaray. Slot said they hope he will be back before the end of the season. He was outstanding in last season’s first leg at the Parc des Princes, a 1-0 Liverpool win in which he made nine saves.
Salah was also hurt against Galatasaray but has recovered and will be available this weekend. The forward could start at Manchester City.
Isak has trained with the group after fracturing his fibula in December, but Slot said it is too early for him to start against City. Frimpong also trained after going off in the Netherlands’ 1-1 draw with Ecuador on Tuesday and could be managed in the Cup, as he is still building the capacity to play every three days.
