Liverpool's GAME-CHANGING move for £30m forward

Liverpool are currently short of forward options and there aren't very many solutions available.

Hugo Ekitike is the only striker that's fit, Cody Gakpo and Rio Ngumoha are still operating down the left side - although the Dutchman is recovering from an injury. Federico Chiesa's time to impress at right-wing might be more limited than he'd like, and Florian Wirtz is being deployed across the attack.

Beyond those stars, Liverpool without Alexander Isak, whose broken his leg, and Mohamed Salah who's in Morocco right now for the African Cup of Nations. The two absentees, coupled with the fact that Slot opted against signing someone to replace Luis Diaz, has left the team stretched.

The January transfer window opening might offer a glimmer of hope in that the Reds could look to sign some replenishments, but the £450m spend in the summer will have limited our capabilities.

As such, it's important that Liverpool consider all possible homemade solutions that could be tried.

Whatever the question, Frimpong is the answer

It was revealed last week by Slot that electric pace is a trait that the Dutchman likes his players to have and £30m wing-back Jeremie Frimpong has it in abundance. His driving runs down the flanks against Wolves really helped to break the game open, with pin-point cross being sent into the box.

Ordinarily, you'd expect the 25-year-old to be utilised in defence, but all of a sudden Slot now has a few different options to consider and it's plausible that Conor Bradley might be given the nod instead.

When then Reds went to Elland Road last month and suffered a troubling 3-3 draw, having led 2-0 and 3-2, there were a couple of players that stood out amongst the carnage, and Bradley was one of them, winning two tackles and six duels, making six recoveries and creating a big chance.

While there's not a lot in it, the Northern Irishman is the better 'defender' of the two, and so it would make a lot of sense if he came in for Frimpong, despite the Dutchman's great efforts against Wolves.

But that shouldn't mean that he falls out of the XI completely. There an opportunity at right-wing for him with Chiesa out of form and while it would be an experimental decision, Slot could make it work.

It's been mooted in the past that Frimpong could be a Salah replacement when the Egyptian is at AFCON and now's his chance to deliver on the promise he's showed. Furthermore, if the Reds are struggling to keep Leeds penned in, the 'wing-back' would offer extra help to the defensive effort.

Until the Reds can arrange some transfers that have the 'electric pace' that Slot is so fond of, it's important that Liverpool take full advantage of the players that might be able to make a difference.

In his press conference ahead of the clash, the Dutchman said: "We had to make one chance in that position [right-back] because Trent [Alexander-Arnold] left and that was not ideal for me because I think Trent has been so important for this club and was very important for me last season.

"When we looked at the options in the market, Jeremie [Frimpong] was one of the first we noticed because he has that pace... similar to Conor [Bradley] and similar to Milos [Kerkez] and Robbo [Andy Robertson] as well.

That pace is one thing going forward, but you also need that pace if you face, for example, the forwards of Paris Saint-Germain, but I can come ip with many teams also here in the Premier League who have very, very, very fast wingers"

With both Bradley and Frimpong available this week, perhaps the later can actually be our 'very fast winger' against Leeds. There's nothing stopping him from making an unforgettable impression.
