Manchester City signed Vitor Reis from Palmeiras and Juma Bah from Real Valladolid during the January transfer window. The pair of young centre-backs do look poised to have key roles to play for City in the future. They are both promising young defenders with all of the necessary attributes to make it at Manchester City. But as of right now, the pair need to be playing first-team football to further their development. But Pep Guardiola’s squad is packed with centre-backs. So going out on loan may be the best move for Juma Bah and Vitor Reis.
Now it has been reported that the pair of young defenders will likely be loaned out by Manchester City for next season. That is the best move for both players to allow them to play regular first-team football in a bid to aid their development to one day become Manchester City first-team regulars.
Alex James has reported for Manchester Evening News, that Vitor Reis is likely to be loaned out by Manchester City for the 25/26 season. Furthermore, James reports that Vitor Reis has been deemed not ready to play regular first-team football for Pep Guardiola’s side.
A report from Africa Foot indicates that there is a race brewing to sign Juma Bah on loan from City for next season. The Africa Foot report names Southampton, Leeds United, Paris FC, and FC Koln as the clubs eager to bring Juma Bah in on loan next season. Lastly, Africa Foot reports that Southampton are considered the favourites to sign Bah on loan for next season.
The talent and potential of Vitor Reis and Juma Bah is clear to see. Both players figure to have bright futures in the game. But they are both only 19 years of age and will need time to grow into a role with the Manchester City first team. If they both were to remain at City for next season it would be hard to see how both players would get that opportunity. Currently, Ruben Dias, Josko Gvardiol, Manuel Akanji, John Stones and Abdukodir Khusanov would play at centre-back ahead of Reis and Bah. Going out on loan is the best move for their development. By going out on loan the pair can play regular football and hopefully return to Manchester City as better and more mature players.
It would seem that Juma Bah and Vitor Reis will both be loaned out by Manchester City for the 25/26 season. The hope being that if they do go out on loan is that it is the first step in the pair one day becoming key pillars in Manchester City’s defence.
