Lucas Paquetá sent a message to Filipe Luís on Wednesday after the coach’s Flamengo exit, offering thanks and wishing him success. According to Coluna Do Fla, the midfielder shared the note on Instagram.

Paquetá said he had hoped the dreams they shared would be fulfilled and thanked Filipe Luís for bringing him back, calling him the key figure. He praised his loyalty, dedication and love for the job, and ended with affection and blessings for the next chapter.

Their last contact came on Tuesday afternoon, when Filipe Luís visited Ninho do Urubu to say goodbye to the squad and staff.

Flamengo moved quickly for Leonardo Jardim, who arrived in Rio de Janeiro on Tuesday night and was at the training centre on Wednesday morning. The Portuguese coach is due to lead his first session in the afternoon, with an official announcement expected by the end of the week.

With Lucas Paquetá available, Flamengo face Fluminense in the Carioca final. Kick-off is 18:00 Brasília time on Sunday at the Maracanã.
