Flamengo have sealed a deal with West Ham to bring Lucas Paquetá back to Brazil, with the midfielder due to land in Rio on Thursday and an 'AeroFla' welcome planned.
According to Coluna Do Fla, the final details were agreed on Wednesday 28. Paquetá flew from England that day and is expected to arrive at around 10:40, Brasília time, on Thursday 29.
Supporters began gathering at Galeão airport in the early hours, intent on staging the traditional 'AeroFla' reception at the terminal.
They want this to be the biggest 'AeroFla' yet, aiming to surpass the reception for Diego Ribas in 2016.
The sticking point was the payment schedule rather than the total fee. Flamengo increased their offer by one million euros to gain more time to pay, taking the deal from 41 million to 42 million euros and securing Paquetá’s immediate release on Wednesday.
Of the 42 million euros, 15.250 million will be paid upfront, with the remaining 26.75 million split into four instalments through 2028.
Paquetá has agreed a five-year contract to 2031. After medical checks and signing, he can join training at Ninho do Urubu, and Flamengo are working to register him on the CBF's BID.
