Lukas Podolski considers retirement

Lukas Podolski, 40, has announced that the 2025/2026 season will likely be his last as a professional footballer.

The former Germany star could, however, extend his career by one more year on one condition: if his team pulls off a sporting surprise. Podolski joined Górnik Zabrze in 2021, fulfilling a promise he made years ago, and he continues to play for them today. So far this season, he has featured in 8 matches without scoring or providing an assist.

The 2014 World Cup champion is also trying to take control of the Polish club, but the process has been complicated by administrative and financial issues.
