Both Adams and Dykes have been involved in Blues-related transfer talk

Birmingham City outcast Lyndon Dykes has reacted to Torino striker and Scotland international colleague Che Adams' recent social media post as heavily Blues-related transfer discourse continues to surround the experienced duo.

It is shaping up to be an extremely busy period at St. Andrew's @ Knighthead Park, with Chris Davies hoping to make the changes that benefit the futures of several players, and indeed, his squad, as Blues look to rekindle their play-off dream after a largely inconsistent first half of the season after being promoted as record-breaking League One champions.

Davies' men return to league action with an away trip to Vitor Matos' resurgent Swansea City side on Saturday evening in front of the Sky Sports cameras, as they look to record a first 'double' of the season after Dykes' second half stoppage-time heroics in the reverse fixture back in September.

Bluenoses will hope that the gap, which currently stands at eight points, can eventually be bridged in Birmingham's final 20 league fixtures in order to achieve a first play-off berth at Championship level since 2012.

Davies' transfer plans were, of course, widely reported in the lead-up to the transfer window, with the striking department being an area identified for 'surgery', as well as left-back and central midfield.

Dykes, of course, has been the subject of continuous exit talk in the Second City after previously coming close to a switch to either Preston North End, Hibernian or Aberdeen late in the summer window.

Davies has revealed that he will not stand in the striker's way if the right move for all parties came about, whilst Football League World understand that an exit for the 48-time Scotland international will not be sanctioned until a replacement is found.

And, whilst reports have now emerged that Blues are in the driving seat to secure a deal for Danish youth international, August Priske, some Bluenoses may have looked at Dykes' response to Adams' latest exploits for Torino in a different light compared to usual.

It has been a mixed time at St. Andrew's for Dykes since his initial switch from Queens Park Rangers in the summer of 2024, as he was often utilised as an alternative option to Jay Stansfield and Alfie May during Blues' record-breaking success last season.

However, he did provide supporters with an iconic late header in the EFL Trophy semi-final against Bradford City 11 months ago, which booked the club's first trip to Wembley since February 2011.

As previously mentioned, the Australian-born Tartan Army striker came close to an exit in the summer, and after making just two starts so far this season, as well as two more dramatic winners against Blackburn Rovers and the Swans, exit talk has failed to dissipate.

It emerged at the start of the current window that Charlton Athletic had expressed their interest in acquiring Dykes, who has since emerged as a potential loan option for both Ipswich Town and Leicester City, with the Foxes managed by his former Loftus Road boss, Marti Cifuentes.

Meanwhile, talk over a return to St. Andrew's for Adams, almost six years on from his £15m exit to Southampton has also not gone away.

After reunion links emerged in the summer, Football League World exclusively revealed that a deal between Blues and Torino for the 29-year-old was not financially viable, despite spending over £11m on Kyogo Furuhashi and Marvin Ducksch.

However, it was claimed last week that chiefs at St. Andrew's would not be opposed to yet another sentimental signing, which has only increased speculation.

And, whilst it may just be congratulating an international colleague, some may see Dykes' response of two heart-eyed emojis on Adams' latest Instagram post as a potential hint, with the ex-Blues man scoring a brace to help 'Il Toro' knock Roma out of the Coppa Italia on Tuesday night in a 3-2 win.

Despite the duo's working relationship at international level and their cult status at St. Andrew's for differing reasons, it appears glaringly obvious that a reunion for Adams and Dykes in the Midlands is unlikely.

Dykes has been omitted from Birmingham's last two matchday squads against Coventry City and Cambridge United, and the potential arrival of Priske would appear to only speed up his departure, whilst Adams continues to feature for Torino on a regular basis, with his midweek double taking his overall tally for the season to five goals in 22 appearances across all competitions.
