Lyon have confirmed the loan signing of Ukrainian forward Roman Iaremtchouk from Olympiakos.
The club said in a statement that the 30-year-old joins from the Greek side, where he has played since July 2024.
The move is a paid loan costing one and a half million euros, with a non-obligatory purchase option estimated at five million euros.
He expressed his delight at arriving and at reuniting with Clinton Mata, his former Club Brugge team-mate. He also noted his familiarity with Paulo Fonseca, who managed Shakhtar Donetsk from 2016 to 2019. The atmosphere at Groupama Stadium during Sunday’s 1-0 win over Lille impressed him and he already looks forward to playing in front of the supporters.
He previously played for Gent from 2017 to 2021, Benfica in 2021-2022, Club Brugge in 2022-2023 and Valencia in 2023-2024 before moving to Greece.
He has 65 caps and 17 goals for Ukraine, and will try to help them reach the next World Cup with a play-off semi-final against Sweden on 26 March, then a potential final against Poland or Albania five days later.
