Madrid Commercial Court No 15 has upheld appeals by LaLiga and the RFEF, lifting precautionary measures in the Getafe case that were first made public on 30 January.
As reported by as.com, those measures were granted without first hearing LaLiga or the RFEF and solely kept Getafe’s winter window open until all parties could be heard. After reviewing LaLiga’s opposition, the court revised its stance on urgency and noted that by the deadline Getafe had registered every player it had signed.
The decision of LaLiga’s Budget Validation Body regarding Getafe was later confirmed by the Economic Control Committee, LaLiga’s Social Appeals Committee and the RFEF’s Second Instance UEFA Licence Committee.
Getafe’s issues centre on the €20 million they would receive if Christantus Uche, loaned to Crystal Palace last summer, started 10 matches. That clause initially allowed the club to project a positive balance for registrations, but the condition had not yet been met.
LaLiga recalculated the south Madrid club’s salary limit from 51.9 million to 34.8, creating a €17 million excess that prevented new registrations.
During the winter window, Getafe completed five signings: Martín Satriano, Sebastián Boselli, Zaid Romero, Birmancevic and Luis Vázquez.
