The twins, as Brandt and Malen were known during their time at Dortmund.
The Bremen attacking midfielder’s contract with Borussia expires, which is why he could represent a transfer opportunity for Roma, who are seeking offensive reinforcements.
The Roman club will have to consider whether to reform the duo that performed brilliantly under the yellow wall for three and a half seasons: 73 goals and 62 assists.
Former Roma sporting director Frederic Massara had explored Brandt’s willingness to move back in March, receiving an open offer and the player’s approval.
Roma have changed their sporting director, pending Tony D’Amico’s official announcement, but Brandt’s intentions appear to be the same.
As Corriere dello Sport reports, before joining the national team for their training camp, Malen called his former teammate and asked if he was willing to join him in the capital.
The response was positive; the 1996-born player seems convinced of the opportunity presented by playing in the Champions League with Roma and gaining experience in Serie A.
Brandt, however, is in talks with several clubs. Meanwhile, Gasperini had already given the green light to this transfer.
The attacking midfielder, leaving Borussia Dortmund to sign, is asking for a salary of around €4 million, a figure still within the Giallorossi’s reach.
