Manchester United stars Benjamin Sesko and Senne Lammens have been included in a Premier League Team of the Week following their impressive performances against Sunderland.
Sesko and Lammens played a key role for United as they cruised to a comfortable 2-0 victory over newly-promoted Sunderland on Saturday.
Heading into the fixture, there was a lot of pressure on Ruben Amorim and his players to deliver, having suffered a 3-1 loss to Brentford the weekend before.
United got off to a perfect start as Mason Mount broke the deadlock inside eight minutes. Sesko doubled the hosts’ advantage with an instinctive finish before the break to secure the victory and propel United to 10th place in the Premier League table.
Beyond his goal, Sesko caused problems for Sunderland throughout the afternoon, with his strength and composure on the ball proving difficult to contain.
He led the line superbly, holding up play and linking up effectively and it was fitting that he notched his second goal for the Red Devils in as many outings.
Meanwhile, Lammens enjoyed a flawless United debut. The Belgian exuded calmness and confidence between the posts, producing two excellent saves in each half to maintain the clean sheet. His distribution, impressive with both feet, was another standout feature of his performance.
Both Sesko and Lammens earned rave reviews from Ruben Amorim in his post-match interview and the pair have now been recognised by statisticians WhoScored.
Lammens featured in WhoScored’s Premier League Team of the Week with a rating of 7.36.
Sesko leads the line for the XI and boasts a score of 8.11. WhoScored have paired Sesko up front with Tottenham Hotspur forward Mathys Tel.
It’s a solid achievement for the United pair, both of whom were signed in the summer. Sesko is having a fantastic maiden season in England while Lammens will be hoping to build on his very positive debut.
United are back in action on Sunday October 19, when they go away to Anfield to take on bitter rivals Liverpool.
