Manchester United youngster Jack Fletcher has apologised after using a homophobic insult in an EFL Trophy game against Barnsley back in October.
Fletcher has been handed a six-game ban for his actions which came in the 5-2 defeat to the Tykes, with the teenager scoring and getting sent off in that game.
"I am truly sorry for the offensive word that I used in the heat of the moment," Fletcher said in a statement.
"Despite the fact that I had no intention to use the term as a homophobic insult, I completely understand that such language is unacceptable and immediately apologised after the game.
"I want to be clear that this momentary lapse of character absolutely does not reflect my beliefs or values."
Jack Fletcher, brother of Tyler and son of father Darren, made his first team debut for United under Ruben Amorim back in December but has not played for the first team in 2026.
