In a recent report, journalist Mark Brus claimed that Manchester City are keeping tabs on the situation of Chelsea defender Josh Acheampong. It has been revealed that the Mancunian side are facing competition in the form of Newcastle United, West Ham United, Crystal Palace and Bournemouth in the race to land the English right-back in this transfer window.
Acheampong came through the youth ranks of Chelsea and did well to break out as a first-team starter for them as a teenager. The 19-year-old has made 15 appearances for the Blues so far but is still waiting to score his first goal for the club across all fronts.
The English talent has caught the eye with his performances for the West London outfit over the past 18 months. Hence, it is no surprise that Man City are showing interest in recruiting him this summer.
Acheampong is under contract at Stamford Bridge until the summer of 2029, which could make it tough for the Mancunian giants to sign him on a cut-price deal in this transfer window.

Acheampong is a solid tackler of the ball and can time his challenges well to secure the ball back for his team inside his half. He usually puts his foot through the ball when needed and can even play his way out from the back. Acheampong is primarily a right-back but can also fill in as a centre-back if asked to do so by his manager.
However, the English talent is still quite raw and would need time to be a consistent performer in Premier League football. Still, he has got the potential to be a world-class full-back someday. Thus, Man City would do well to bring him on board in this transfer window.
At 19, the future looks quite promising for Acheampong as long as he continues to improve with each year. Therefore, Man City should focus on going for a player of his potential and skill set this summer.
However, Guardiola has to be patient with his progress before he can get the best out of him at the Mancunian club. With all things considered, Man City should focus on luring him to the Etihad Stadium soon.
