Manchester City head coach Andrée Jeglertz says that he is looking forward to tackling the tactical challenges posed by this weekend’s opponents Brighton & Hove Albion.

The Cityzens face The Seagulls under the lights at The Joie Stadium this evening.

Manchester City’s campaign started with defeat last weekend as they went down 2-1 at Chelsea. When speaking to the media ahead of this weekend’s clash, Jeglertz took a measured approach to his analysis of the Stamford Bridge loss.

“Everything in this club and with this team is about winning but when you take a step back and analyse, the amount of scoring chances we had [was good] and we didn’t let them have that many chances neither,” Jeglertz said.

“There are definitely things that we can build on for the future. The disappointment is probably also there because we felt that the performance was okay but we can definitely do better.”

This weekend’s opponents Brighton & Hove Albion pose some tough tactical challenges and Jeglertz admits that he is excited to try to find the answers to overcome the Sussex side.

He said “Brighton are a difficult team to scout. They are a possession-based team, they have a couple of rotations and tactical moments in the game that give us a few challenges. It’s an interesting team to play against because they ask a few questions of us but I’m looking forward to that. They have a couple of really good individual players too that we will need to be aware of.

“For us, everything is about going to get a first victory, putting in a good performance and building from last week. We want to take the next step.”

The fixture sees Jeglertz take charge of Manchester City for the first time on home soil and he is hoping to see his side develop the attacking side of their game in-front of their own fans.

He said “We are looking forward to this game and it is fantastic to be playing at home. With the ball, we want to have longer attacks, making sure that we have a little bit more patience before we go into the penetration phase. Those are a couple of things that we have put a little more attention to.”

Manchester City’s Barclays Women’s Super League fixture against Brighton & Hove Albion kicks-off at 7.30pm this evening. Tickets remain on-sale and are available by clicking here.
