The agent of Manchester City defender Juma Bah has shared a set of images on his Instagram story that may suggest the Sierra Leonean could be part of Pep Guardiola’s squad next season.

City secured the arrival of the talented centre-half from Real Valladolid in January and immediately sent him on loan to RC Lens, where he made 10 appearances till the end of the 2024-25 campaign.

Bah has come to the end of his loan stint in France and there is a tint of excitement amongst the Manchester City fanbase to witness the 19-year-old in the sky blue jersey as part of Guardiola’s first-team at some point.

Manchester City are heavily stocked in central defence and a route into the senior team for next season remains highly unlikely at present for Bah, who is expected to seal a season-long loan to progress his development with regular first-team football.

City signed Abdukodir Khusanov and Vitor Reis in January and following the return of Nathan Ake, John Stones and Manuel Akanji, Guardiola has a wide array of options at this disposal at centre-half.

Ruben Dias and Josko Gvardiol formed an impressive and solid pairing at the heart of defence in the closing months of the season – and are expected to retain their spots as first-choice options come the beginning of the 2025-26 season.

Outgoings for first-team players out of favour with Guardiola and loan moves for fringe players are expected to dominate the headlines for City in the coming weeks, with the Blues aiming to win the Club World Cup and some much-needed confidence in the process after a trophyless 2024-25 campaign.

Bah would benefit from gaining regular first-team experience and Manchester City will surely be keeping a close eye on the teenager wherever he does play his football next season – as they do with young prospects signed with a vision to play a part in the first-team in the future.

The Sierra Leonean’s agent this week took to Instagram as he shared two photos with Bah – standing on the touchline at the Etihad Stadium and in the Manchester City dressing room – to tease the fanbase over what the new season may have in store for the highly-rated defender.

“Exciting news coming out for the next step and destination! Insha Allah,” the Instagram story caption read, which could mean that either a decision has been made or is imminent on what the next 12 months could look like for the centre-half.

After a comfortable 2-0 win over Wydad AC in their Club World Cup opener this week, Manchester City can secure qualification to the knockout stages with three points against Al Ain before the final group-stage clash against Juventus.

The next piece of transfer business that is expected is the acquisition of a new right-back and Manchester City will be assessing whether they want to get involved in a long-drawn transfer saga with Newcastle for Valentino Livramento.
