Manchester City took a step closer to winning the Women’s Super League title after they scored five against last year’s champions, Chelsea.

While Arsenal won the Champions Cup this weekend, the rest of the WSL were still in normal action with some massive fixtures.

Here’s everything that happened…

Manchester City 5-1 Chelsea

Kerolin’s hat-trick made sure Chelsea would not close the gap on league leaders Manchester City.

The Brazilian opened the scoring after just 13 minutes, before Khadija Shaw made it two ten minutes before half time.

Kerolin would strike twice just after the break to put City 4-0 up and almost out of sight, but Alyssa Thompson got one back for the London side. Any hope of a comeback, however, would quickly be quashed four minutes after Thompson’s goal as Vivienne Miedema completed the rout.

City are now 12 points clear of last season’s champions Chelsea.

Manchester United 3-1 Liverpool

Lisa Naalsund was at the double as Liverpool were well beaten by Manchester United.

The Norway international opened the scoring in the 52nd minute before Alice Bergstrom levelled the scoring, but it would only take United one minute to go ahead again through Naalsund.

Despite only having a one-goal lead throughout the second half, United looked comfortable and Fridolina Rolfo’s goal three minutes from time made sure that they took home all three points.

West Ham 1-2 Tottenham

Tottenham came back from behind to return to winning ways against 11th-placed West Ham.

Shekiera Martinez’s opener after just ten minutes gave West Ham an unlikely lead against Spurs, and they continued to create chances. The most notable of them saw Toko Koga had to block a Viviane Asseyi strike off the line.

However, Spurs would get back into it as Matilda Vinberg levelled ten minutes after the break before Olivia Holdt scored the winner 15 minutes from time.

Things were not all perfect for Spurs, though, as Drew Spence was sent off in injury-time for a dangerous tackle on Riko Ueki.

Everton 2-1 Aston Villa

Two goals from Martina Fernandez gave Everton their first win of the season at Goodison Park.

Aston Villa struck first through Ebony Salmon who beat a defender before smashing a shot past Courtney Brosnan in the Everton goal.

However, two set pieces from the Merseyside outfit made the difference on the day. The first came from a corner swung in by Ruby Mace for Fernandez to head home.

The same players would combine for the winner, this time from a free kick, in the 89th minute to seal all three points for Everton.

Brighton 1-2 London City Lionesses

London City Lionesses earned their first win in the WSL under their new coach, Eder Maestre.

Brighton dominated the early stages and eventually were rewarded as Kiko Seike finished brilliantly with the outside of her boot.

It would only take 13 minutes for London City to wipe out that lead as Freya Godfrey’s cross was turned into her own net by Moeka Minami.

After being heavily involved in the equaliser, Godfrey would come up trumps again for her side by scoring the winner just before the break. She cut in from the right-hand side before bending a shot into the top corner.

Brighton dominated the second half in search of an equaliser, with the biggest chance falling to Madison Haley. She went through on goal after Elena Linari had given the ball away, but Linari made amends for her error by sliding in before the forward could get her shot away. This made sure London City limped over the line to win their first three points under their new boss.
