Manchester City have received a massive boost ahead of their Premier League clash with Wolves on Sunday. Kevin De Bruyne has returned to training ahead of Sunday’s match at Molineux. But Pep Guardiola has told the media is unlikely to start the match as he returns to full fitness. But it is welcome news for City to have De Bruyne back in training.

Images shared on mancity.com show De Bruyne’s back training with his teammates. The Belgian international has been out since City’s nil-all draw with Inter Milan last month. Based on the images shared and Pep Guardiola’s comments during his pre-game press conference, De Bruyne is slowly building his way back to full fitness. Based on this, it is unlikely that he or Nathan Ake will start Sunday’s match at Molineux.

Speaking during his pre-game press conference Pep Guardiola was asked about the status of Kevin De Bruyne and Nathan Ake. He told the media that the pair are unlikely to be available for Sunday’s match. Though Guardiola did say that in the case of Ake, he may travel for Sunday’s match. The Manchester City manager also confirmed that Manuel Akanji had picked up an issue on international duty. Guardiola added that City’s Brazilian duo of Ederson and Savinho were behind the rest of their teammates in training this week. Guardiola explained when asked if Ake and De Bruyne are ready for this weekend’s match: “I don’t think so. No. Not ready. They are training, and in the last part, and yesterday, Nathan did his first training with the team. Maybe can travel but to start is not ready. Some of the Brazilians. Manu [had an issue after the international break].

Pep Guardiola added that a final decision on his squad’s injury status will be known tomorrow. He added: “Tomorrow we will see how they feel. Tomorrow we will know exactly.

Irrespective of Kevin De Bruyne’s availability for tomorrow’s clash with Wolves it is a boost for Manchester City to have De Bruyne back training. He has missed City’s past 5 games due to injury. It now appears he is on the comeback trail. The only question appears to be when will De Bruyne finally return to the pitch for the world champions.
