A Manchester City scout overlooking Oscar Bobb during his day playing for Lyn in his homeland of Norway was stunned with what he witnessed from the attacker, as per a new report.

Bobb has started each of Manchester City’s opening trio of 2025-26 Premier League games, though the Blues have picked up right where they left off last season and made their worst start to a league campaign under Pep Guardiola.

Having spent a major part of the previous campaign on the sidelines owing to several injuries, Bobb is experiencing his most consistent run of starts in Manchester City’s first-team squad since breaking through from the academy two seasons ago.

A last-gasp winner against Newcastle at St. James’ Park in January 2024 put the Norway international on the map, with Bobb coming off the bench and latching onto a pinpoint Kevin De Bruyne through ball over the Magpies defence to go around Martin Dubravka and notch his first Premier League goal and hand City three crucial points.

Expectations were high heading into last summer and Bobb took the pressure into his stride and impressed in pre-season, playing a starring role in Manchester City’s FA Community Shield win over Manchester United in August 2024.

However, the winger suffered a leg break in training in the days after the derby win, which ruled him out of action till the spring of 2025, with Bobb making his long-awaited return to the pitch in a 2-0 win over Leicester City in April.

Bobb’s return was short-lived and a hamstring issue in the weeks that followed forced the academy graduate to re-join an ever-growing injured contingent of first-team players, with Manchester City fans left wondering whether Guardiola retains trust in the injury-riddled Norwegian.

An encouraging summer has seen Bobb turn the ship around and do his part in regaining Guardiola’s trust amidst a change of guard in the Manchester City dressing-room that has bid farewell to several senior stars over the course of the recent transfer window.

Bobb is expected to start Manchester City’s Premier League clash against Manchester United on Sunday, which would give the youngster as good a platform as he could ask for to stamp his mark on the first-team and take a significant step in nailing down the right-wing position amid competition from the likes of Jeremy Doku, Savinho and Bernardo Silva.

A new detail from The Athletic’s Jordan Campbell has detailed how on a visit to Norway to look at young Bobb during the attacker’s time in his homeland, a scout representing Manchester City handed the winger a perfect A scouting rating – usually reserved for elite talents.

The reports adds that representatives from the Etihad Stadium paid several visits to Oslo-based Vålerengens to meet Bobb and watch him in training as Manchester City strengthened their interest in the now first-team forward, who joined the Blues in 2019.

Going the extra mile to assess Bobb’s injury troubles dating back to his academy days, Manchester City reportedly also brought a medic as part of their visiting entourage to get a detailed understanding of where Bobb stood in terms of fitness.
