The performances of Manchester City across October have been recognised by the Premier League as they confirm their list of nominations for their various awards.
It was a mixed bag of English top-flight results for Manchester City across the month of October, as while they made good ground on those above them in the division, their long-standing unbeaten run would come to an end.
Manchester City opened their month with a 0-1 win on the road at the Gtech Community Stadium, overcoming a stern test from Keith Andrews’ Brentford – who they will also face in the Carabao Cup quarter-final stage in December.
The win in West London was then followed up by a relatively comfortable win over David Moyes’ Everton at the Etihad Stadium, before UEFA Champions League commitments and a win in Spain would be followed by defeat at Aston Villa.
One man who was integral to the successes across competition, and certainly the goalscoring efforts in the Premier League, was Erling Haaland – who continues to be relied upon by Manchester City as their go-to source for goals.
Now, as confirmed by the Premier League this week, Erling Haaland has received yet another nomination for the Player of the Month award following his Manchester City performances across October.
The Norwegian striker will also be looking to retain his prize, having claimed the award for a fourth time last month. Haaland’s recognition comes after three goals across three league games in October, with crucial strikes in the victories against both Brentford and Everton.
Erling Haaland is one of eight nominees for October, alongside Aston Villa’s Matty Cash, Newcastle’s Bruno Guimaraes, Bournemouth’s Junior Kroupi, Manchester United’s Bryan Mbeumo, Sunderland’s Nordi Mukiele, Brentford’s Igor Thiago, and Arsenal’s Jurrien Timber.
Manchester City will be needing Erling Haaland at his very best to overcome their next run of challenges across the month of November, and will be hoping that his rest during the 1-3 win over Swansea in the Carabao Cup fourth round will rejuvenate him for the tests ahead.
November’s busy schedule and contests across the Premier League and UEFA Champions League begins with a home clash in the English top-flight against Bournemouth before hosting Borussia Dortmund in European competition.
Completing a trio of home matches within the space of a week, Liverpool will then travel to the Etihad Stadium in the Premier League before City travel to the North-East to take on Newcastle United at St James’ Park.
November will then culminate for Pep Guardiola’s side with Bayer Leverkusen at home in the Champions League’s league phase, before another home clash this time in the Premier League against Leeds United.
