Erling Haaland and Oscar Bobb played crucial roles for Norway last night in their 4-1 win over Italy in their Group I World Cup qualifying clash overnight. Erling Haaland scored a brace within a minute, and Oscar Bobb played a key role in both of Erling Haaland’s second-half goals as Norway booked their place at next year’s World Cup. The Norwegians have qualified for the World Cup for the first time since 1998 with their emphatic victory and stunning World Cup qualifying campaign. In the case of Erling Haaland, he continued his strong form and will return to Manchester City eager to continue his impressive form.
Across Norway’s eight World Cup qualifying matches, Erling Haaland scored 16 goals. Words don’t do justice to how absurd that statistic is. Haaland’s 16 goals equal Robert Lewandowski’s record for the most goals in a World Cup qualifying campaign. More important than Haaland’s goals, is the fact that he helped lead Norway to the World Cup for the first time since 1998. It was clear what Norway’s achievement meant to Erling Haaland judging by his post on X after Norway’s win, which can be seen below.
So far this season, Erling Haaland has scored 32 goals for both Manchester City and Norway in 21 games for club and country. The fact that it is only November says all you need to know about how impressive Haaland’s play has been this season. He is dominating games, and he is in the form of his life. If Haaland’s strong form continues, there is no telling what he can achieve for Manchester City this season and Norway next summer.
With his international duties now complete for November, Erling Haaland will return to Manchester City buoyed by Norway’s success and hoping to continue his dominant form for his club. If he can do that, Haaland can help Pep Guardiola’s side build on the good position they currently find themselves in. It wouldn’t be a surprise to see Haaland continue his strong form for City given the confidence boost he will get from helping Norway qualify for the World Cup.
