Manchester United and Chelsea are in competition to sign Sunderland midfielder Noah Sadiki (20), according to a report from Franco-Belgian journalist Sacha Tavolieri.

Sadiki, like Sunderland, has had an excellent start to the Premier League campaign, to the extent that he is attracting interest from clubs at the top of the table. Manchester United’s interest is more long-standing.

Sunderland midfielder impresses during match against Chelsea in October

The Red Devils approached the player’s entourage at the start of the season to sound out the feasibility of a move. He is an alternative to Brighton and Hove Albion midfielder Carlos Baleba, who could prove too costly.

Chelsea’s interest came following their meeting with the Black Cats at the end of October. The Blues made contact directly with Sunderland in order to enquire about Sadiki’s valuation. Chelsea and Manchester United could compete for the DR Congo international’s signature during the upcoming January transfer window.
