The Red Devils host the Bees in a huge game in the race to qualify for Europe, with both United and Keith Andrews’ men hoping to finish in the top seven in the Premier League.

Last time out, United were victorious at Chelsea, beating them 1-0 at Stamford Bridge thanks to Matheus Cunha’s goal.

They earned those three points with just one recognised central defender in their matchday squad, as youngster Ayden Heaven was partnered by natural right-back Noussair Mazraoui at the heart of defence.

Yoro was injured for the visitors having suffered a knock in training, while Harry Maguire and Lisandro Martinez served suspensions for their respective red cards against Bournemouth and Leeds United.

Maguire was handed a further one-game ban for his behaviour after his dismissal in Dorset, while Martinez was given an early bath after he tugged Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s hair in the 2-1 home defeat against fierce rivals Leeds.

As such, Carrick issued a cautious yet positive update on Yoro ahead of his side’s clash with Brentford.

“We are still working [on him], so there’s a possibility, but at this stage, we’re not 100 per cent sure,” Carrick said of the French defender.

Carrick also gave an update on Patrick Dorgu, who has not featured since hobbling off in the 3-2 win at Arsenal in January.

The Dane has been struggling with a hamstring issue.

“Patrick’s working his way back, so I don’t want to get ahead of that, but he’s certainly making good progress and back closer to trainig with us, which is positive,” the United head coach said.
