Marc Skinner has provided a positive update on Manchester United striker Elisabeth Terland, who is expected to start in the League Cup this week.

Terland picked up a knock in the FA Cup fourth round last weekend but should be fit enough to return against Arsenal.

Elisabeth Terland injury update

Manchester United thrashed Burnley 5-0 last weekend but not everything that happened in the game was positive.

Elisabeth Terland picked up a knock in the second half after being substituted on by Marc Skinner.

Speaking ahead of United’s League Cup semi final against Arsenal, Skinner reassured fans that Terland’s knock wasn’t anything serious.

“The early indications are that she will be okay,” Skinner said. “She did take a knock, I think the keeper hit through her leg, I think it was almost like a dead leg but it’s got a little bit easier.”

Terland was phenomenal at the start of the season but she has struggled for form in the past few months.

The Norwegian international scored eight goals in the first eight weeks of the season, but since then she has netted just two goals in 17 appearances for United.

Despite her poor scoring form of late, Terland was awarded a new contract in January.

A dip in form for the 24-year-old led to United stepping into the transfer market. The striker is now competing alongside January signing Lea Schuller for a spot in the starting lineup.

Schuller netted her first goal for the Red Devils in their thrashing over Burnley last weekend.

Terland is still expected to lead the line for United on Wednesday night as they look to cause an upset away from home against Arsenal.

United in injury crisis

Manchester United are currently suffering through an injury crisis

Ella Toone is the team’s biggest absentee with the midfielder struggling with a bone stress in her hip.

Despite being ruled out for up to 10 weeks, Toone sent a defiant message to supporters on her road to recovery.

Fridolina Rolfo also missed United’s FA Cup clash last weekend and will be absent again on Wednesday, but Skinner provided a more positive update on the Swede.

“Frido [Rolfo] still won’t be available, maybe she might be back at the weekend but hopefully she will be back at the latest next weekend.”

The United boss added that Gabby George could return to the squad within the next two weeks.
