Another executive leaves Brentford for United
Manchester United are set to appoint Brentford’s chief operating officer Ameesh Manek as their new director of football operations.
Manek, who will leave Brentford after three years at the club, will effectively oversee the running of United’s Carrington training ground.
Part of Manek’s role at United will see him take charge of travel, security, training facilities, staff management and infrastructure as United look to overhaul the day-to-day running of the club.
Manek originally joined Brentford as their business operations director before being promoted to chief operating officer in July 2024.
He is the latest key executive to leave west London for United following the departure of Stephen Torpey, who started work as the Red Devils’ academy director two weeks ago.
The Bees have since appointed Jamie Greenwood as interim academy director while they search for a full-time replacement for Torpey, who was responsible for the reopening of the club’s academy at the start of the 2022-23 season.
Manek’s focus will be across both the men’s and women’s teams at United and he becomes the latest leadership appointment by United chief executive officer Omar Berrada.
Berrada has made sweeping changes at United since arriving at the club in July 2024 from Manchester City.
Manek leaves Brentford, having previously spent five years at Arsenal, where he became head of first-team football operations.
Brentford, meanwhile, lose yet more key personnel on and off the pitch, after a summer in which they saw head coach Thomas Frank, captain Christian Norgaard and forwards Bryan Mbeumo and Yoane Wissa leave the club.
