Manchester United attacking midfielder Matheus Cunha almost got knocked out during a training ground accident, according to talkSPORT.

The Man United summer signing missed the 1-0 defeat to Everton at Old Trafford on Monday night after a head injury last week at Carrington.

It was reported as a knock but Cunha almost passed and will miss the Red Devils’ game against Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park on Sunday.

Concussion protocol rules have been followed and Man United will be without one of their key players for an important game.

They headed into the match against Everton on the back of three wins and two draws in their last five Premier League games and will be desperate to bounce back against the Eagles.

Palace have lost just two league games this season, and United have to be on top of their game if they want to leave with a result.

Cunha has one goal in ten league appearances for the Red Devils but has been an important player for manager Ruben Amorim when available.

He brings more than goals or assists to the table, with his all-round performances getting praised so far, and being without him against Palace is a huge miss.

Man United return to action next Thursday when they host West Ham United, and the Brazil international is expected to be back in action.

Cunha has been spending hours doing extra sessions, working on free-kicks and set-pieces after the regular training sessions.

Amorim has been impressed with the former Wolverhampton Wanderers star and cannot wait to have him back on the pitch after the unfortunate training ground incident.

Man United are targeting a top-six finish this term and will need Cunha and other attackers to step up in the absence of Amad Diallo and Bryan Mbeumo during the Africa Cup of Nations starting next month.
