Marc Cucurella makes big Lamine Yamal claim ahead of Chelsea’s clash with Barcelona | OneFootball

Marc Cucurella has admitted Lamine Yamal is the hardest winger to stop with Chelsea due to face Barcelona in the Champions League.

The Blues are back in Europe’s premier club competition for the first time in two years after securing a fourth placed finish last season.

Chelsea named their squad for the Champions League earlier this week, with Cucurella of course amongst the players selected.

Chelsea have got some great fixtures in the league phase including games against Bayern Munich, Barcelona and Napoli, the respective champions of Germany, Spain and Italy.

The Blues kick off their campaign with a trip to Bayern, where they famously won their first Champions League title in 2012.

Chelsea welcome Barcelona to Stamford Bridge on November 25th, and the two teams have great history with each other in this competition.

The two sides are vastly different from the teams who did battle in the past, but Barcelona have a superstar in Yamal.

Cucurella knows Yamal well from the national team, and he’s spoken about facing the Spaniard in the Champions League.

“He’s the hardest winger to stop,” Cucurella said as cited on X.com.

“He’s a very skilful player; you never know what he’s going to do to you.

“It’ll be a tough match, but I’ll try to make things as difficult as possible for him.

“I can’t injure him either, because otherwise I won’t be able to come back to the national team.”

Chelsea face tough Champions League test

Cucurella will have key role to play if Chelsea are going to advance to the knockout stages of the Champions League.
