Marc Cucurella will leave Chelsea to sign for Real Madrid in a deal worth £51.8m after the World Cup.

The 27-year-old had expressed his interest in leaving the Premier League for La Liga, and will become Real Madrid’s latest signing after this summer’s World Cup in North America.

Cucurella is currently with the Spain side at the tournament, with La Roja due to begin their campaign against Cape Verde today.

The fee involved is an initial £47.5m, with a further £4.3m in add-ons. Cucurella’s arrival continues an active summer of recruitment for Real Madrid under re-elected president Florentino Perez and returning Jose Mourinho.

Real have agreed the free transfer signings of Manchester City midfielder Bernardo Silva and Liverpool centre-back Ibrahima Konate, and have also activated the release clause in the contract of Inter Milan full-back Denzel Dumfries.

Cucurella had been linked with Atletico Madrid and former side Barcelona, before Real’s pursuit wrapped up a deal. The left-back made 163 appearances for Chelsea after arriving from Brighton for a £63m fee in 2022.
