Marcus Rashford insisted he is desperate to stay at Barcelona beyond his one-year loan deal from Manchester United.
The 27-year-old joined the Catalan club on loan in the summer after falling out of favour with United manager Ruben Amorim.
Rashford has been a key player for Hansi Flick’s side this campaign, bagging five goals and six assists in 12 appearances.
Barcelona can make the move permanent for €30 million next summer. Speaking to ESPN, he insisted he wants to stay at the Spanish club.
“Oh yeah, for sure,” he said. “I’m enjoying this football club, and I think for anybody who loves football, Barcelona is one of the key clubs in the history of the game. For a player, it is an honour.”
Rashford rose through the ranks at United and made 426 senior appearances for the club. He registered 138 goals and 78 assists. However, he never fulfilled his world-class potential.
He was sent on loan to Aston Villa for the second half of last season and scored just four goals in 17 appearances.
He was allowed to join Barcelona this summer, where he has stepped things up. Rashford’s contract at Old Trafford will not expire until 2028, but it is unlikely he will ever play for the club again.
