Marcus Rashford (27) has declared his desire to remain at Barcelona beyond the end of his loan spell from Manchester United, signalling a potential permanent exit from Old Trafford next summer, according to reports from BBC Sport.
The England forward, who joined the Catalan club in August, has rediscovered his form under Hansi Flick, scoring five goals in 12 appearances, including a brace in Tuesday’s Champions League victory over Olympiakos.
Barcelona hold an option to sign Rashford for £28m, a figure notably lower than the £40m United would demand from other suitors. Despite being under contract until 2028, Rashford’s future at Old Trafford appears increasingly uncertain under head coach Ruben Amorim.
When asked if he wished to stay, Rashford replied “For sure. I’m enjoying this football club, and for anyone who loves football, Barcelona is one of the key clubs in the history of the game. For a player, it’s an honour.”
The 27-year-old, set to feature in his first El Clásico this weekend, says the move has revitalised him after a challenging spell in Manchester. “People forget that 23 years of my life was with Manchester United,” he added. “Sometimes you just need a change, I think that’s the case with me, and I’m enjoying everything.”
