Maresca commits his future to Chelsea amid reports | OneFootball

Enzo Maresca has vowed that he has no plans to walk away from Chelsea.

Maresca said after the victory over Everton last week that the previous 48 hours had been the worst he had experienced since being at the club, because of a lack of support.

He has since been linked with the Manchester City job should Pep Guardiola depart.

But asked if he could promise that he will be at Chelsea next season, the Italian said: “Absolutely, yes. I have a contract until 2029. It’s speculation, 100%. I don’t have nothing to add. I don’t pay attention.”

The Athletic have reported that Guardiola may leave City this summer, and that Maresca is one of the prime candidates for his job.

Asked what he made of the links, Maresca said: “It doesn’t affect me at all. I know that it is 100% speculation and in this moment, there is no time for these things.

“I have a contract here until 2029. My focus is just on this club and I am proud to be here. It’s speculation. One week ago, it was the same with Juventus so I don’t pay attention.

“It’s just speculation. It’s important to understand the reason why this news was there, but it’s not my job. I don’t care at all and the focus is on the Newcastle game.”

Chelsea have beaten Everton and Cardiff in their last two games, following a poor run of form.

The win in Wales meant the Blues have reached their third semi-final since Maresca was at the helm, and the 45-year-old said there is still more to achieve.

“Absolutely, yes,” he said. “We achieved the third semi-final in 18 months the other day. Last year was good in terms of trophies and finishing fourth in the Premier League. The target is to try and improve on what we did last season.”
