Marseille could keep hold of Inter Milan attacking midfielder Valentin Carboni on loan despite his serious knee injury.
This according to today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, via FCInterNews.
At the moment, Carboni is on the sidelines with a serious knee injury.
The 19-year-old tore his ACL while on international duty with Argentina during the autumn.
Therefore, Carboni will still be out for several months as he recovers from the injury.
However, Tuttosport reports, Carboni should be back for April or May.
Therefore, Inter are starting to think about their plans for when the Argentine returns.
Still just nineteen years of age, there is still plenty of time for Carboni to regain his momentum, and so Inter and the player have a big decision to make in 2025.
Prior to his injury, Carboni had been on loan at Marseille.
The French side signed the teenager on loan in the summer. They reportedly have a purchase option worth more than €40 million, while Inter have a buyback option.
Naturally, the knee injury has brought Carboni’s momentum to a screeching halt.
The prospect of a permanent move to Marseille now seems very far away.
However, that doesn’t mean that the French club will give up on Carboni.
Tuttosport report that Marseille are considering keeping the Argentine on loan for the season while he recovers.
Then, the Ligue 1 side could make a decision about the teenager at the end of the season.
