Lautaro Martinez has called for any unsettled Inter Milan players to leave the club this summer.
Inter crashed out of the FIFA Club World Cup to Fluminense on Monday, suffering a disappointing 2-0 defeat to the Brazilian side.
It followed a disastrous end to the 2024/25 campaign, in which the Italian side missed out on the Serie A title and lost 5-0 to Paris Saint-Germain in a record-breaking Champions League final.
Head coach Simone Inzaghi has since departed for Al-Hilal, while influential midfielder Hakan Calhanoglu has been linked with a move to Galatasaray.
Inter captain Martinez has said he does not want to share a dressing room with anyone uncommitted to bringing success to the San Siro.
“I want to fight for top titles. Who wants to stay at Inter, very good and let’s fight. Who doesn’t want to stay, they can go and leave,” he said after the defeat to Fluminense.
“We need players who want to be here. We are wearing an important jersey. We need top mentality or please, leave.”
Though Martinez did not reference Calhanoglu by name, Inter president Beppe Marotta confirmed the Argentine was discussing his unsettled teammate. He confirmed that Calhanoglu is free to leave if he no longer wants to be an Inter player.
“Lautaro’s message on players who don’t want to stay? He didn’t say but I’ll say that. It was for Hakan Calhanoglu.
“We will speak with Hakan. If there will be conditions to part ways, we will do it with zero problems.”
