The 16th round of the English Premier League saw the fastest goal of the season, as West Ham’s midfielder Mateus Fernandes made an instant impact against Aston Villa.
Just one day after Hugo Ekitike had scored in only 46 seconds on December 13, the Frenchman’s record was quickly broken. The 21-year-old Portuguese midfielder seized upon a defensive error and fired the ball past Bizot, giving the Hammers an immediate advantage.
