Matheus França marked his first goal for Vasco in a 2-1 win over Audax Italiano with a tribute to Eberechi Eze, Arsenal's No 10 and a Champions League finalist.
According to Globo.com, after scoring the number 9 crossed both index fingers, mirroring the English midfielder's trademark celebration.
The pair were team-mates at Crystal Palace in 2024 and 2025, featuring together 13 times. He called Eze a great player and said their spell together made him a big fan.
França, on loan to Vasco from Crystal Palace, said he is very happy with the goal and the team's attitude and performance, and that the aim is to keep working to reach the next stage and meet targets in the Brasileirão and the Copa do Brasil.
His loan runs until the end of June, and despite his recent display the likely outcome is that Vasco do not renew the deal through to the end of the season.
Vasco face Athletico-PR in the 15th round of the Brasileirão.
