Max Wober concedes he is unlikely to be in high demand this summer, with the Leeds United defender poised to return after an injury-hit loan that yielded only three matches for Werder Bremen.

“So far, relatively little. I'm pretty sure I won't be the most sought-after player at Leeds United anymore. That much is clear to me. We'll see how things develop.” He told DAB Der Audiobeweis.

He joined Bremen on a season-long loan in July last year, tore a hamstring on debut in August, then suffered a calf muscle tear in a winter friendly, finally returning to competitive action on 26 April. The setback kept him out of Austria's World Cup squad.

Bremen are believed to hold a purchase option, although after so little game time that appears unlikely. As things stand he is set for a second Leeds return, having previously left for Borussia Monchengladbach in 2023. He will have one year left on his Leeds contract when he reports back to Thorp Arch.

“I'm assuming I'll return for pre-season training as normal,” he added. “And I think after an injury like that, you simply need training sessions with the team, friendlies where you get that feeling in your body again that you're fit, that everything's working, and that everything's holding up.”
