"If the league does not want to work with us, it becomes complicated. I am not going to force them," said Maxime Saada, in remarks that further cool the prospect of a reconciliation with the LFP.
"We are the player who needs it the least. When I see the way this league treats beIN Sports, its main funder, it really does not make you want." He was speaking to Le Figaro.
"Does Canal+ have to have everything, or simply the best? We have chosen the best in sport, series and films. Champions League audiences are nothing like Ligue 1. Last season, PSG v Arsenal was watched by 4.1 million subscribers."
"Obviously, Ligue 1 is important for the French and historically linked to Canal+. We tried all summer to find an agreement."
His comments came weeks after Canal+ renewed its deal with UEFA to broadcast all European competitions from 2027 to 2031.
The rift with the LFP dates to 2020 and the Mediapro fiasco, when Canal+ bristled at eight matches being reallocated to another broadcaster for less than it paid for two per matchday.
