Middlesbrough go top as Conway and McGree strike before the break

Middlesbrough beat Sheffield United 2-1 at Bramall Lane to move top of the Championship, built on first half goals from Tommy Conway and Riley McGree.
In the 19th minute, Tommy Conway swept in from the centre of the box after Riley McGree's pass. On the stroke of half time, McGree's header doubled the lead (45.).
After the restart, Patrick Bamford halved the deficit from Gustavo Hamer's set piece delivery (73.). Joe Rothwell was sent off for the Blades late on (80.).
Michael Cooper kept the Blades in it with seven saves, notably denying Matt Targett and Morgan Whittaker before the interval. Sol Brynn stood firm for Boro with four stops.
Boro controlled long spells, posting 62.8% possession and 19 attempts as Kim Hellberg's side pressed for a third. The Blades mustered 13 efforts, five on target, but could not find an equaliser.
Next, the Blades visit Portsmouth. Boro travel to Coventry City.
